The Shanghai Disneyland Park has received the green light from authorities but the details of the project are still under negotiation, said Bill Ernest, president and managing director of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts' Asia Region, at a ground-breaking ceremony of the Hong Kong Disneyland's expansion project on Sunday, the Oriental Morning Post reported.

 

Details such as entrance charge, scenic construction and capital structure can not be revealed since they are still being considered, according to Ernest, quoted in the newspaper.

 

The project, which was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on Nov 23, will be jointly developed by Chinese and United States companies. The new theme park will be located at the Chuansha town of Pudong New Area, covering 116 hectares and will include an amusement park, a logistics support area, a public utilities area and a parking lot.

 

The expansion project of the Hong Kong Disneyland Park is expected to be completed by 2014. When it is completed the total amount of the rides in the park will exceed 100.

 

"The newly-added rides will help pushing the Hong Kong Disneyland Park to a whole new level. We are aiming to make this park a world-class family tourism attraction," said Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

 

Bill Ernest stressed that the company believes China has plenty of business to support the two Disney theme parks in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Guo Bozhi, President of Aircraft Design & Research Academy of Shanghai said great progress has been made in more than 10 key technique-tackling projects undertaken by itself and a lot of achievements have been applied to aircraft. According to Shi Jianzhong, Deputy General Manager of China Commercial Aircraft Corporation, the annual output of domestic-made large aircrafts is expected to reach 15 by 2017 and seeks to reach 150 in the future.

According to sources, located in south section of Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park, with planned land area of more than 1,200 mu and total building area planned of 500 thousand square meters, China Commercial Aircraft Design & Research Center consists of administrative area, comprehensive design & research area, engineering test area, innovative technology area, auxiliary facility area, complex laboratory and reserved area for development and is capable of accommodating 3,500 to 5,000 people. The design and research center, complex laboratory, mechanism function laboratory and its auxiliary facilities will be built during the first-stage project and are expected to be put into use by the end of 2011. Last month, the Large Passenger Aircraft Assembly Manufacturing Center also settled down in Pudong, which will attract a collection of supporting enterprises to seek for development in Shanghai so as to drive the growth of industries of mechanical equipment, new material and electronics & information.
